Job Title:          Purchasing Administrator

Reports to:       Supply Chain Manager

Based at:          Expac Commercial Centre, Unit 1, Centurion Court, Wheelton Lane, Leyland, Preston PR25 3UQ

Term:                 Fixed One-Year Contract


Job Purpose:

A great opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Administrator/Assistant to join a dynamic, expanding FMCG manufacturing business that works with many well-known brands in the Personal Care and Household sectors.

The purpose of the role will be to work as an integral part of the Supply Chain team to assist with a wide range of Supply Chain functions including Purchasing, Imports, Logistics, Planning, and Customer Service. This is a diverse role within a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be required to have strong experience in a similar Supply Chain or Purchasing role and be highly motivated and used to working in a very busy, fast-paced office environment. They must possess excellent communication skills, be team orientated, and work in a very organised manner.

Experience in the Purchasing and Importation of goods is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and processing customer orders.
  • Calculating purchasing requirements relating to customer orders.
  • Placing purchase orders with suppliers.
  • The tracking and ordering of office/factory consumables.
  • Building/maintaining good supplier relations to ensure timely supply of goods.
  • Communicating with other internal departments to advise of delivery dates for incoming goods.
  • Attending and participating in weekly planning meetings.
  • Advising and updating customers of production scheduling and delivery dates per order.
  • Arranging international shipping with shipping agents.
  • Arranging customs clearances and imports with shipping agents/suppliers.
  • Support with commercial costings, where necessary.
  • Assisting with the organisation of freight and transportation for customer deliveries, when required.
  • Tracking freight and liaising with customers accordingly
  • General Office tasks as required (answering the phone, greeting visitors, office cleanliness etc.)
